Francis was awarded Engineering Officer of the Year in 2008. He is the Regional Engineering Manager in Western Australia for Aker Solutions, overseeing the day to day execution of all engineering activities, along with recruitment, development and retention of all required personnel.

His initial qualifications in Instrumentation were achieved from Teesside Polytechnic and Longlands College in the United Kingdom.

Francis has participated in the development and ratification of one international standard with the ISA and on major process plant infrastructure projects in developing countries such as India, Brazil and South Korea.
