Only two years into her career as a structural engineer, and already Joanna can see the results of her work around Australia.
She says, “I’ve been involved in the design of steel support structures for high voltage electrical equipment, the verification of new railway station designs, the analysis and design of strengthening for existing bridges and the verification of steel gantries for the Gateway Upgrade Project in Brisbane.”
But her most exciting project to date is her current work as part of the design team for the Western Highway Anthony’s Cutting Realignment, an iconic project west of Melbourne that will improve safety and reduce travel times for commuters.
“As a structural engineer, I can implement practical solutions to real life problems to improve our built environment. Engineering offers so many different challenges every day – it’s always going to be an interesting profession to be a part of,” she says.
