Tobyn Bearman

Tobyn is Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer in the Royal Australian Air Force.

He applies his engineering expertise to the design and development of aircraft systems. It’s a great job – and one that potentially saves lives.

For him, a career highlight was his involvement in the Royal Australian Air Force’s acquisition of five new Air-to-Air Refuelling aircraft. These aircraft will be the first of their type, pushing technology to its limits in what is a demanding and dangerous activity.

Tobyn was part of the engineering and operations teams working with the prime contractor to design, test and field the new aircraft systems. “I am particularly proud of the improvements that I introduced into the basic design, which will help to ensure the new aircraft is the best of its kind,” he says.
